Though a decade has passed since Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar, the government is yet to receive the original maps of 82,000 villages from Bihar, despite reminding it time and again.
The original maps of 82,000 villages are not with us. Letters have been sent to Bihar but they have not yet responded..said revenue and land reforms minister Mathura Prasad Mahto.
The sated is trying to come up with cadastral maps, based on the old cadastral maps from Bihar and satellite imaging being done by Jharkhnad Space Applications Centre (JSAC)
Cadastral maps generallly comprise details of wonership, location including coordinates, dimensions and area, classification of land and could also include value of the land.
The absence of thsed maps is the prime hurdle in the state government's digitization plan of the land and revenue records, which further is impacting industrialisation in the state added Mathuraji.
Revenue and land reforms principal secretary AN Pandery said..We have received some of the maps, but larger chunk is yet to come. we are in touch with Bihar govemrnment.
Unfortunately, department officals reveal, there have been several cases of tampering and vainshing of revenue records leaving no offical records for several land owners. Further, several of the land and revenue records are on papers that have outlived its life and are tearing into bits of pieces. The data is in urgent need of being computerised. Though the department officials claim that the computerisation process has started and is progressing, well, 23 out of 24 districts, barring Lohardaga, are yet to see any shart.
We have started the computerization of land records in the state, wchich apart from other things would clearly state ownership..said Pandy..
