Chief Minister Arjun Munda said the process of land procurement by private companies for setting up industries would be revised to protect the interest of the land-owners in keeping with the provisions of prevalent tenancy Acts.
Terming the existing policy unconstitutional, Munda said private companies are not legitimately entitled to purchage land directly from the owners in the state falling under the fifth Schedule of the Constitution. i want in clusive growth in the state. For that, the government is aspirinng to augment industrial growth in the scheduled areas as well, where purchages of land by others is not right. At the same time, government wants to protect interst of the landowners, who are usually left to fend for themselves after deling our their land directly to private parties, said Munda.
As per the prevailing policy, omdistroa; houses are reqioted to purchages a major chunk of land directly from the people. The state vovernemt provides the only a residual part.
Munda said the policy was not in conformity with the existing tenancy Act. He however, parried reply whether the government would purchage and for private companies, saying further clarity on the issue could lead to unnecessary confusion.
Underlining the need for facilitating rapid industrialisation in the state , Munda said the government intecded to ensure electricity and pucca road connectivity to each and every village in the nest three monthes. We are planning to set up power plants on public-private -partnership modal. Process is on to sigh power purchase agreement with prospective investors in the energy sector. the chief minister said.
He also said agro-festival would be organised at the district levels to encourage development of agro -based industries in rural nears.
